Fameline and the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) sign cooperation agreement

(www.MaritimeCyprus.com) Fameline Holding Group (FHG) and the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will enable further and deeper collaboration between the two organisations. The MOU furthermore aims at strengthening the already excellent relationship between the organisations and will allow the exchange of ideas, resources and facilities in areas such as marine and offshore technology, marine robotics and maritime digitalisation.

During the signing ceremony of the Memorandum, the CEO of FHG Adamos Seraphides highlighted that “our Group has been a strong supporter of the efforts of CMMI from its inception. I am today especially pleased to see that the implementation phase has begun. As a leading Group of companies in the maritime supply chain space, we remain committed to contribute and participate in initiatives like this that promote innovation which in turn will provide valuable and smart solutions to the maritime sector. Keeping our eyes to the future, we are looking forward to the results of this collaboration that will bring mutual benefits to the organisations, to our customer basis and to the wider maritime sector”.

The CEO of CMMI, Zacharias Siokouros expressed his satisfaction for the signing of the MOU and highlighted the fact that Fameline is among the first companies on the island to provide a Letter of Commitment to CMMI back in 2018. “I see a lot of opportunities for cooperation between the two organizations and we are already exploring with our friends at Fameline some specific joint endeavours”. He further stressed that “CMMI remains committed to its aim to become a partner of choice for all relevant blue economy research and innovation activities at the local, regional, European, and global levels”.

CMMI, was established in 2019 following its selection for funding under the EU’s HORIZON 2020 Programme, Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation Call, after a three-year highly competitive evaluation process among approximately 200 proposals at EU level. It was awarded €30 million funding from the EU Commission and the Cyprus Government while more than €25 million are to be provided by partners and industry and academia stakeholders mainly as in-kind contributions.
